If your employer fails to do any of the following, you may be owed money:
- Give you a meal break of at least 30 minutes, uninterrupted by work, where you’re free to leave the premises.
- Give you a 10 minute rest break for every 4 hours of work.
- Pay you overtime for all work over 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week.
- Prevent discrimination based upon disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, race, religion, etc.
- Give you a seat if your work requires standing but you could sit during lulls.
- Allow you time off for pregnancy (men included) or to care for a family member.
- Pay you for beginning work before you clock in or continuing working after clocking out.
- Pay you everything you’re owed, immediately upon termination.
- Keeps managers and supervisors from sharing in tip pool.
- Give 60 days written notice before a plant closing or mass layoff (applies only to large employers).
- Reimburse you for any money you put out on your employer’s behalf.
